I’m Jacqueline Means, aka The STEM Queen. I’m a speaker, STEM advocate, community leader, and founder of the Girls Empowerment STEM Initiative. For more than a decade, I’ve been on a mission to make STEM exciting, accessible, and empowering for girls everywhere.

​

My journey of service began when I was just 12 years old. I started creating hands-on STEM experiences for girls in my community because I wanted them to see themselves as scientists, engineers, innovators, and leaders. What began as a small idea has grown into a movement that has now reached more than 10,000 girls through STEM programming, mentorship, representation, and community outreach.

Over the years, I’ve also helped establish Delaware Women and Girls in STEM Day, shared my story through national media and speaking opportunities, and continued finding new ways to serve Wilmington and communities beyond it. My work has taken me from classrooms and community centers to national television, while giving me the opportunity to combine my passions for technology, leadership, service, and empowering the next generation.

Today, I continue that mission through speaking engagements, STEM experiences, youth events, media, and my service as Miss Wilmington 2027 through the Miss America Opportunity. At the heart of everything I do is a simple belief: representation matters, curiosity deserves to be encouraged, and every young person should have the chance to see themselves as capable of creating what comes next.
